NESM is 501(c)(3) recognized, so your donation is always tax deductible in the USA.
NESM's attentive stewardship means that every dollar given gets spent carefully and that very, very little goes to overhead costs or administrative expense. We have no endowment or financial trust. We have you as our sole financial support.
Our paid staff almost exclusively consists of individuals who also render direct service to seafarers. We do have one person who specializes in making sure that we keep our records in order, but her hours are limited to one day per week. In Boston, our Seafarer's Center receives space right in the Cruise Terminal along with electricity and heat. Massport, the state agency operating the Cruise Terminal, understands that our services make up an essential part of what makes Boston a favored destination for the working men and women of the sea. In Providence, the same is true, so at that port, NESM receives space for its old construction-trailer which serves as the Seafarer's Center there. The Providence Seafarer's Center is reknown throughout the maritime ministry community for being the essence of compactness and simplicity. NESM respects your gifts as a trust for our higher mission in advancing the Gospel and serving all people.
NESM operates entirely from current giving and the (very) modest proceeds from our mission activity. Without your continued giving, we will need to cut our operations, reduce or services, and limit our witness. With your continued and increased giving, we may pay our staff in a timely manner, we may increase our witness, and we may develop new ministries.
