The "Cosette" on the Cape Cod Canal

Ship Cosette sailing in Cape Cod Canal
The "Cosette" and her crew are old friends of the mission. They bring used cars from Boston to Haiti. She's a small ship with a big heart. Photographer Charles Kane caught her transversing the Cape Cod Canal on a bright autumn day.

Chaplain Cushing and Container Ship

Senior Port Chaplain Stephen Cushing visits nearly every ship which ties up at the Container terminal in Boston.

Most valuable cargo travels the world by container. These ships are specially designed along with container ports to handle what essentially are back-ends of tractor-trailers. These boxes go directly onto truckbeds. Container ships spend only a very few hours in port because of their efficient loading characteristics, but this means less time for seafarers to call home and to take care of their needs.
