About NESM, at 130 Years
NESM enters its 130th year precisely where it should be:
-
Operating under direction, control, and oversight from its parent,
the Evangelical Covenant Church and its 501(c)(3) status
.
- +With all appropriate reports and certifications to the Massachusetts
Secretary of State current and in compliance, rendering NESM in good
standing.
- +With all appropriate IRS paperwork, returns, and taxes rendering NESM
in good standing with the IRS.
- +Having a determination from the Office of Attorney General, Commonwealth
of Massachusetts, that as a primarily religous organization, NESM
is not regulated by that office.
- +Within a Maritime Security Zone at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal,
in South Boston, on the site of the old Army Base. We have been located
within the Cruise facility in excess of ten years. We occupy four
floors of old office space in the former warehouse which houses the
Cruise Facility.
- +We are across the Reserve Channel from the Conley Container Port,
where our chaplains and core volunteers visit crews of the ships which
call there.
- +We are active in visiting ships at high-security terminals such as
the LNG facility on the Mystic River as well as industrial ships throughout
the Port of Boston, including Braintree and Quincey.
- +Our chaplains and core volunteers have completed TWIC certification and MTSA mandated training,
and they wear MassPort security badges with clearances for the Black
Falcon Cruise Terminal and the Conley Container Terminal.
